Welcome to the Mount Saint Sepulchre Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order.

Our fraternity meets on the third Sunday of the month unless announced otherwise. There will be no meeting in June or December. The next meeting will be on November 19. On October 15 we have our annual Open House. Meetings are open only to members and those in formation.

Recent News

  • 15-Oct-2017 – Bennet gave an excellent presentation on Pope Pius XII, including research done on what Pius did to save many Jews during WW2 and some of the false rumors circulated about him. Larry distributed certificates to some of those who celebrated significant profession anniversaries; congratulations in particular to Margaret, who was professed 70 years ago! Members were asked to keep in their prayers members and their families who are not well. We prayed the Office for the Dead for our deceased sister Julia Stratchko.
  • Julia Stratchko d 201726-Sep-2017 – Member Julia Stratchko passed away (see obituary). Her funeral was on Oct 2 at St. Hugh in Greenbelt, MD. Julia had been professed 40 years. God bless her!
  • 18-Sep-2017 – Patrick Carolan from Franciscan Action Network described the organization's mission, social justice programs, and opportunities for members. Mary Jo gave a short history of the Franciscan Crown rosary and distributed some rosaries to members.
  • 20-Aug-2017 – Mary Jo gave a lovely presentation on Mary and St. Francis, tying it into our Franciscan Rule. Michele relayed to members her experience as a visitor to Assisi.
  • 17-Aug-2017 – The August edition of the St. Margaret of Cortona Regional Fraternity's newsletter, Up To Now, is now available.
  • 18-Jun-2017 – There was no fraternity meeting this month so members could celebrate Fathers Day with their families.
  • Dorothy Clayton d20172-Jun-2017 – Member Dorothy Clayton passed away. Her funeral was held on June 8 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
  • 31-May-2017 – Fr. Bill Winkler, OFM, a friar of the Holy Land, passed away.
  • 22-May-2017 – The May edition of Up To Now is available online.
  • 21-May-2017 – The fraternity welcomed into Inquiry phase Mary Gigliotti and Bennett Solberg. A member gave a presentation on the apparitions at Fatima, the promises, and the two new saints fo the Church.
  • 20-May-2017 – Member Phil Melore passed away after being in a coma for several days.
  • Theresa Wilson (d.2017)16-May-2017 – Member Theresa Wilson passed away. Her funeral was held at Holy Comforter - St. Cyprian's Church on Wed, May 24.

  • 28-Feb-2017 – Longtime member Marianne Hughes passed away peacefully. Her memorial service was attended by fraternity members.
  • 19-Feb 2017 – Member Mary Jo gave a presentation on an alternate way to meditate on the Stations of the Cross; thank you, Mary Jo! Members discussed Franciscan aspects of our passing, how St. Francis referred to it as Sister Death. We also rejoiced at the news that we have Fr. Jim Gardiner, S.A., as our new Spiritual Assistant.
  • Helene Hogan (d 2017)19-Jan-2017 – Helene Hogan, a former Secretary of our fraternity, passed away today. Please keep her in your prayers. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on February 3, 2017, at Holy Face Catholic Church, 20408 Point Lookout Rd., Great Mills, MD. Inurnment immediately following service at Church Cemetery.   • profession class 201620-Nov-2016 – With great joy the fraternity witnessed the profession of new members Michele Dunne, Wendy Enderson and Frank Klem. After a three year course of learning about St. Francis, Franciscan spirituality, and the Secular Franciscn Order they made their public commitment. Congratulations to all!
  • Br Lawrence Bode (d)25-Sep-2016 – Today Friar Lawrence Bode, OFM, passed away about 1am in the morning in Bethlehem after 46 years of faithful service to the Custody of the Holy Land. The Guardian of the Monastery, Fr. Larry, offered the noon Mass for him. Br. Lawrence always had a smile, a great (if dry) sense of humor, has worked tirelessly in Bethlehem for many years, and has made the Milk Grotto a regular stop on pilgrimages there; see his YouTube video, as well as an obituary (scroll down for English translation).
